Motif Definition:

An action, image, idea, or sensory perception that repeats in a work of art.

I’m so glad you’re here and that you’re considering what kind of support you need! I’m a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience supporting people through life transitions, gender identity and sexuality exploration, social anxiety, self-esteem development, trauma reprocessing, and relationship challenges. Throughout my career I have worked with various specialties including reproductive healthcare, gender affirming care, domestic violence advocacy, medication assisted treatment (MAT), LGBTQIA counseling, as well as within multiple crisis settings. I am comfortable working with topics of complex trauma, self-harm behaviors/ideation, and substance use. I can also provide one-off appointments and evaluations for those seeking letters for gender affirming surgery or offer short term support for navigating acute stressors like a miscarriage, abortion, or grief/trauma anniversaries, etc.

Additionally, I have a special interest in supporting autistic and ADHDers including those who are high masking, questioning, or self-identified. Maybe you’ve never quite felt like you “fit in” or consistently struggled in ways that you have not been able to articulate. I combine my professional training in neurodivergence and trauma with lived experience as an autistic queer person to provide a supportive space for tending to the trauma that’s inherent in being divergent from the “norm”. Together, we’ll work to begin unmasking so that you can find relief, understanding, and connection.

MY counseling approach

My approach draws from a combination of theoretical lenses and modalities ranging from strengths based, relational, somatic psychotherapy, EMDR, and Ego State therapy/IFS. Clients tend to find me honest, easy to connect with, and attuned- with some dark humor sprinkled in if that’s your style.

I would be honored to get to know you without the mask and to meet your fully complex and messy self.

“Over the years, I have worked with Jessa in a peer-to-peer counseling capacity and am consistently amazed by the depth of her compassion, care, and attentiveness. As a counselor, Jessa’s empathy and humor have been such treasured gifts. She is wise, knowledgeable, and willing to confront the shadows with such love.”
